She is a two-time Olympic medalist, having won a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, and a silver medal in the 400m freestyle at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Sparavec is a four-time European champion, having won gold medals in the 200m freestyle at the 1998 European Championships in Seville, and in the 400m freestyle at the 2002 European Championships in Berlin. She also won silver medals in the 200m freestyle at the 2002 European Championships in Berlin, and in the 400m freestyle at the 2006 European Championships in Budapest. Sparavec is also a two-time World champion, having won gold medals in the 200m freestyle at the 2001 World Championships in Fukuoka, and in the 400m freestyle at the 2003 World Championships in Barcelona.
