Michael Anthony was an English actor who was best known for his roles in the films The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), The Guns of Navarone (1961), and The Ipcress File (1965). He also appeared in the television series The Avengers (1961–1969). Anthony was born in St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands, on 26 September 1911. He began his acting career in the 1930s, appearing in a number of British films. He also appeared in several stage productions, including the original production of The Mousetrap in 1952. In 1956, Anthony starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much, alongside James Stewart and Doris Day. He went on to appear in a number of other films, including The Guns of Navarone (1961), The Ipcress File (1965), and The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965). In 1961, Anthony joined the cast of the popular British television series The Avengers, playing the role of Dr. David Keel. He appeared in a total of 24 episodes of the series, until his character was killed off in the episode "The House That Jack Built" in 1969. Anthony continued to appear in films and television series throughout the 1970s and 1980s. His last film role was in the 1987 film The Fourth Protocol. Michael Anthony died on 28 April, 2002 in London, England, at the age of 90.
