Michael du Plessis is a South African former rugby union player who played for the Springboks from 1981 to 1992. He was born in Somerset East, South Africa, on 4 November 1958. He attended Grey College in Bloemfontein, where he was a member of the first team in 1977. Du Plessis made his international debut for the Springboks in 1981 against the All Blacks in Auckland. He went on to play in a total of 28 Tests for South Africa, including the 1995 Rugby World Cup. He also played in the 1987 Rugby World Cup, where he scored a try in the semi-final against Australia. Du Plessis was known for his hard-hitting tackling and aggressive style of play. He was also an excellent line-out jumper and was known for his ability to read the game. Du Plessis retired from international rugby in 1992 and went on to become a successful businessman. He is currently the CEO of a South African-based company, and is also involved in various charitable causes. As of 2021, Michael du Plessis's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.
