Michael Eisner is an American businessman and former CEO of The Walt Disney Company. He was born on March 7, 1942 in Mount Kisco, New York. He attended Denison University and graduated with a degree in English. Eisner began his career in the entertainment industry in 1966 when he joined ABC as a programming executive. He then moved to Paramount Pictures in 1976, where he served as president and CEO until 1984. In 1984, Eisner was hired as the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, where he served until 2005. During his tenure at Disney, Eisner was credited with transforming the company into a global entertainment powerhouse. He oversaw the acquisition of ABC, ESPN, and Pixar, as well as the launch of the Disney Channel. He also oversaw the development of the Disney theme parks in Florida and California. Eisner has been recognized for his business acumen and has been awarded numerous honors, including the National Medal of Arts in 2004. He is estimated to have a net worth of $1 billion.
