Pelekanos was born in Korydallos, Greece. He began his professional career in the Greek Basket League in 1999, playing for Panionios. He then moved to Panathinaikos in 2002, where he has been ever since. Pelekanos has won the Greek Basket League championship four times (2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007) and the Greek Cup three times (2003, 2004, and 2006). In July 2015, he returned to Aris, signing a two-year contract with the club. He was officially released from the team on July 21, 2016. He then moved to the Greek club Panionios, where played for one season, in the Greek 2nd Division.
