Waterson was scheduled to face Carla Esparza on April 11, 2020 at UFC Fight Night 172. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was eventually postponed and the bout eventually took place on May 9, 2020 at UFC 249. She lost the fight via split decision.
