Michitaka Kikuchi is a Japanese writer, animation director, and art director. He is best known for his work on the anime series Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Wolf's Rain. He has also worked on the films The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars. Kikuchi was born in Iwate, Japan in 1963. He graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts in 1987. He began his career in the animation industry in 1988, working as an in-between animator on the anime series Urusei Yatsura. He then went on to work as an animation director on the series Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Wolf's Rain. Kikuchi has also worked as an art director on the films The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars. He has also written the screenplay for the film Wolf Children. Kikuchi is currently a professor at the Tokyo University of the Arts. He is also a member of the Japan Animation Creators Association.
