Miha Tišler was a Slovenian politician and diplomat who served as the first Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia from 1945 to 1953. He was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 18 September 1926. Tišler studied law at the University of Ljubljana and was a member of the Communist Party of Slovenia. He was a member of the Slovenian National Assembly from 1945 to 1953 and served as Prime Minister from 1945 to 1953. He was also a member of the Central Committee of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia from 1952 to 1953. Tišler was a strong advocate of the Yugoslavian federal system and was instrumental in the establishment of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia. He was also a key figure in the negotiations that led to the signing of the Treaty of Osimo in 1975, which ended the dispute between Italy and Yugoslavia over the Free Territory of Trieste. Tišler died on 15 April 2021 at the age of 95.
