Mike Darr was a professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues from 1995 to 2001. He was a center fielder for the San Diego Padres, Cleveland Indians, and Seattle Mariners. Darr was born in Pomona, California, and attended Cal Poly Pomona. He was drafted by the Padres in the fourth round of the 1994 amateur draft. He made his major league debut on April 26, 1995. Darr was a solid defensive player, and was known for his hustle and hard-nosed play. He was a career .267 hitter with a .323 on-base percentage. He hit a career-high 11 home runs in 2000. Darr tragically died in a car accident in 2002. He was only 26 years old. He was survived by his wife, two children, and his parents. Mike Darr's net worth is estimated to be around $2 million.

He was the father of Mike Darr, a San Diego Padres outfielder who died at age 25 in a car accident in 2002.

1977

Darr appeared in just one game for the Blue Jays on September 6, 1977 at Exhibition Stadium against the Boston Red Sox. He was the starting pitcher that day against "Spaceman" Bill Lee (left-handed pitcher). He pitched an inning and a third before being pulled and replaced by Tom Murphy (pitcher). He gave up three hits, five runs, four walks, hit one batter with a pitch, had one strike-out. He gave up a first inning grand slam to Carlton Fisk. Darr earned the losing decision in the game and finished with an ERA of 33.75. Afterwards he was sent down to play in their minor league system and did not appear again in a major league game.

1974

Darr was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in 4th round (96th overall) in the 1974 Major League Baseball Draft, but never played for them. He then was selected by Toronto Blue Jays in the 2nd round (17th overall) of the 1976 expansion draft.
