She is best known for her roles in films such as The Battle of Neretva (1969), The Marathon Family (1982), and Underground (1995). Banjac was born on 4 November 1929 in Erdevik, Serbia, Yugoslavia. She studied acting at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade and made her film debut in the 1954 film The White Ship. She has since appeared in over 50 films and television series. Banjac has won numerous awards for her work, including the Golden Arena for Best Actress at the Pula Film Festival in 1969 for her role in The Battle of Neretva, and the Golden Arena for Best Supporting Actress at the Pula Film Festival in 1982 for her role in The Marathon Family.
