Mohamed Yaacob is a Malaysian politician who served as the 8th Menteri Besar of Kelantan from 1978 to 1990. He was born on 3 January 1926 in Kelantan, Unfederated Malay States, British Malaya (now Malaysia). He attended Sultan Ismail College in Kota Bharu and later graduated from the University of Malaya in Singapore. He began his political career in the 1950s, when he was elected as a member of the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly. He was appointed as the Menteri Besar of Kelantan in 1978 and served in that position until 1990. During his tenure as Menteri Besar, he was credited with introducing a number of development projects in Kelantan, including the construction of the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, the Sultan Yahya Petra Bridge, and the Sultan Ismail Petra Power Station. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the Kelantan Islamic Foundation, which was set up to promote Islamic values and culture in the state.
