Mohan Joshi is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was born on 3 December 1956 in Pune, Maharashtra. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pune. He began his political career in the year 1985 when he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Pune Cantonment constituency. He was re-elected in the 1990, 1995, 1999, 2004 and 2009 elections. He was appointed as the Minister of State for Home in the Maharashtra Government in 1995. He was also the Minister of State for Urban Development in the Maharashtra Government from 1999 to 2004. He was appointed as the Minister of State for Home in the Government of India in 2014. He is currently a Member of the Parliament of India representing the Pune constituency in the Lok Sabha. Mohan Joshi is 64 years old as of 2021. Mohan Joshi is congress Lok Sabha candidate from Pune Constituency for the general elections of 2019. He will be taking over BJP's Girish Bapat as the main opposition candidate. Since 2014 BJP is ruling Pune Lok Sabha Constituency.

2009

Mohan Joshi is an Indian politician from Pune, Maharashtra and has been representing the Indian National Congress into various organizational and constitutional capacities and isheading the MPCC as state general secretary since 2009 with incharge of Solapur District. He belongs to Pune Constituency, Maharashtra. He is also heading Tennikoit Federation of India as chairman of the federation . 2004

Congress & NCP had decided to contest the Parliament Elections in an alliance in 2004, Joshi had earned the claim for the Pune seat for Congress. He had also expressed the desire to contest from Pune Constituency. He was denied the nomination stating internal reasons. Mohan Joshi accepted the Party High Command's decision and worked relentlessly for party's candidate.

1999

Joshi was Congress candidate for the Parliament elections from Pune constituency in 1999. It was a triangular fight between the Congress Party, the Nationalist Congress Party and the BJP. Strong division of votes were divided between Congress and Nationalist Congress Party, Mohan Joshi garnered 212,000 votes and secured the second position. The NCP candidate, who was the then sitting Member of Parliament, slid down to the third position.

1997

It was under his leadership, all the elections held during 1997 to 2004 timeline, the Congress Party won all the elections for the Parliament, the State Assembly as well as the Pune Municipal Corporation. It is worth mentioning that the Congress Party won the Municipal corporation elections with a thumping majority under his leadership.
