Namrata Shrestha

In 2019, Shrestha starred in the movie Xira, which was her first action movie where she did all stunts on her own and even had to shaved her hair for the role. She wanted it to be a movement for youth to be a stronger and better version of themselves and it was empowering.

In 2018, Shrestha starred in the movie Prasad. she learned the “Paschimey” accent of the character Narayani.

In 2016, Shrestha starred in the movie Classic, again alongside Aryan Sigdel. Her role in this movie Classic, marked the apex of her still-growing silver-screen career, having secured each and every award in the best female actor category that year, including the National Award, which was personally bestowed upon her by the President of Nepal.

In 2015, Shrestha starred in the film Soul Sister. Shrestha played a dual character in the film, and sang the Nepali hitsong "Bistarai Bistarai". Her singing was much acclaimed.

Apart from being an actress, Shrestha is also an RJ, an Entrepreneur, Filmmaker and an accomplished Singer. She has released two cover songs - Bistarai Bistarai (OST Soul Sister 2015) and Prakriti ko Sundar Shristi (OST Classic 2016).

In 2014, Shrestha was cast alongside Aaryan Sigdel as the onscreen couple for the blockbuster film November Rain.

In 2013, she appeared in the Nepali movie Chhadke alongside Saugat Malla, Daya Hang Rai and Robin Tamang. Chhadke, directed by debutant Nigam Shrestha, got mixed to negative reviews, though overall the movie was commercially successful. Shrestha played the character Soli, an aggressive young woman involved in a local gang.

In September 2013, Maun was released, in which both main characters, including Shrestha's, are deaf and mute girl who was a very colorful character and brought that role to life without dialogue. Shrestha had training in sign language.

In 2011, she acted as the main character Carol in the theater production of Oleanna.

In 2010, Shrestha appeared in two movies. She had a cameo in the film First Love and as a sponsor in a short film for HIV Aids Awareness. Later that year she debuted in her first theater performance, Jalpari.

True to her craft, Shrestha also lends her acting prowess to the Stage. Being flawless in both Nepali and English, her plays Lady by the Sea (2009), Oleana (2011), Yerma (2014) and Golden Boy (2017) have cemented her reputation as an acting juggernought.

In 2008, Shrestha debuted as a film actress in Alok Nembang's directional debut romantic comedy Sano Sansar, where she starred alongside Karma Shakya in his debut, Jiwan Luitel and Neer Shah. The film follows Ravi (played by Karma Shakya) and Reetu (played by Shrestha) whom are good friends online; however both have clue about that they hate each other in the real life. The film was influenced by 2001 Korean film My Sassy Girl and 1998 American film You've Got Mail. In an interview she revealed that "I did Sano Sansar, my first movie, without any training, and I have come a long way".

Namrata Shrestha (born 14 June 1986) is a prolific Nepali actress. She debuted with Alok Nembang's Sano Sansar in 2008, which was a watershed moment in the Nepali movie industry, ushering in the era of digital cinema and modern urban storytelling.
