Nancy Ip is a Chinese neuroscientist and professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She is best known for her research on the molecular and cellular basis of learning and memory. Ip was born in British Hong Kong in 1955. She received her B.Sc. in biochemistry from the University of Hong Kong in 1977 and her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Cambridge in 1981. She then completed postdoctoral research at the University of California, San Francisco. In 1989, Ip joined the faculty of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, where she is currently a professor in the Department of Biochemistry and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. She is also the director of the Hong Kong Institute of Biotechnology. Ip has received numerous awards and honors for her research, including the State Natural Science Award of China, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress, and the L'Oreal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science. As of 2021, Nancy Ip's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
