Nastja Arcel is a Danish actress, director, and writer. She is best known for her roles in the films The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009), A Royal Affair (2012), and The Salvation (2014). She has also directed several short films and television series. Born on 3 October 1963 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Arcel is the daughter of a Danish father and a Swedish mother. She studied at the National Film School of Denmark and graduated in 1993. Arcel made her acting debut in the 1995 Danish film, The Biggest Heroes. She has since appeared in numerous films and television series, including the Danish television series, The Killing (2007-2012). She has also directed several short films and television series, including the Danish television series, The Bridge (2011-2018). In 2009, Arcel starred in the Swedish-Danish film adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She also starred in the 2012 historical drama, A Royal Affair, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2014, she starred in the Danish western, The Salvation.
