Nat Ayer was an American composer, arranger, and conductor who worked in the film and television industry. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and began his career as a pianist and arranger for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He later moved to Hollywood, where he worked as a composer and arranger for films and television shows. He composed the music for the classic film The Wizard of Oz, and also wrote the music for the television series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on the film The Great Race. Ayer was a prolific composer, writing over 500 songs and scores for films and television. He was also a conductor, and conducted the music for the television series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. He was a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). Nat Ayer died on April 15, 1971 in Los Angeles, California. He was 83 years old.
