Nils Landgren is a Swedish jazz musician, trombonist, and composer. He is best known for his work with the Nils Landgren Funk Unit, a funk and soul band he formed in the late 1990s. He has also collaborated with many other jazz musicians, including Jan Garbarek, Esbjörn Svensson, and Bobo Stenson. Landgren was born in Degerfors, Sweden, and began playing the trombone at the age of nine. He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Landgren has released several solo albums, including his debut album, Nils Landgren (1978), and his most recent album, Sentimental Journey (2015). He has also released several albums with the Nils Landgren Funk Unit, including their debut album, Funk Unit (1999), and their most recent album, Teamwork (2015). Landgren is also a member of the Swedish Radio Big Band, and has performed with them on several occasions.
