Nina Kiriki Hoffman is an American author of fantasy, science fiction, and horror. She has written more than 30 books and over 100 short stories. She has won the Nebula Award, the Bram Stoker Award, and the Mythopoeic Award. Hoffman was born in San Gabriel, California, and grew up in the Los Angeles area. She attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she earned a B.A. in English literature. She has worked as a freelance editor, a bookseller, and a writing teacher. Hoffman's first novel, A Fistful of Sky, was published in 2002. Her other works include The Thread That Binds the Bones, The Silent Strength of Stones, and A Stir of Bones. She has also written several short stories, including "The Rag Witch" and "The Bones of the Earth". Hoffman is married to author Will Shetterly and lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
