Niven Abu Rahmoun is an Israeli Arab politician who currently serves as a member of the Knesset for the Joint List. She was born on 24 November 1981 in Reineh, Israel. She is the daughter of former Knesset member Taleb Abu Arar. Niven Abu Rahmoun studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in public policy. She also holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Haifa. Niven Abu Rahmoun is married and has two children. Niven Abu Rahmoun began her political career in 2009, when she was elected to the Reineh Local Council. She was re-elected in 2013 and served as the council's chairwoman. In 2015, she was elected to the Knesset as a member of the Joint List. Niven Abu Rahmoun is a member of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, the Education, Culture and Sports Committee, and the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee. She is also a member of the Knesset's Lobby for the Promotion of Equality and Social Justice. Niven Abu Rahmoun is a vocal advocate for the rights of Arab citizens of Israel and for the advancement of women's rights. She has also been an outspoken critic of the Israeli government's policies towards the Palestinians.
