Norma Whiteman was a pioneering female cricketer who played for Australia in the 1950s and 1960s. She was born in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia on 28 December 1927. She was the first female cricketer to be selected for the Australian team and the first to play in a Test match. Norma Whiteman was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. She made her debut for Australia in the first Test match against England in 1957. She went on to play in a total of five Tests and four One Day Internationals for Australia. She scored a total of 545 runs in her Test career, with a highest score of 81. She also took 11 wickets in her Test career. Norma Whiteman was a trailblazer for women's cricket in Australia and was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 2000. She was also awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2004 for her services to cricket. Norma Whiteman passed away on 28 April 2021 at the age of 93.
