Olga Roriz is a Portuguese choreographer and dancer. She was born on 8 August 1955 in Viana do Castelo District, Portugal. She is best known for her work in contemporary dance, and has been a major influence in the development of modern dance in Portugal. Roriz began her career as a dancer in the 1970s, and has since choreographed and performed in numerous works for stage and television. She has also taught at the National Conservatory of Dance in Lisbon, and has been a guest professor at the University of Porto. Roriz has received numerous awards for her work, including the Order of Merit of the Portuguese Republic, the Order of Arts and Letters of France, and the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator. She has also been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Portuguese Republic. Roriz is currently the artistic director of the Olga Roriz Dance Company, which she founded in 1989. She is also the president of the Portuguese Dance Association.
