Oskar Petr is a Czech composer and sound designer who has composed music for films, television, and video games. He is best known for his work on the video game series The Witcher, for which he won the BAFTA Games Award for Music in 2020. Petr was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and studied at the Prague Conservatory. He began his career in the 1980s, composing music for films and television. He has since composed music for over 50 films, including the Academy Award-nominated Kolya (1996). In the 2000s, Petr began composing music for video games, including the critically acclaimed The Witcher series. He won the BAFTA Games Award for Music in 2020 for his work on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Petr is also a sound designer, and has worked on films such as The Pianist (2002) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007). He has also composed music for television series such as The Tudors (2007-2010) and The Borgias (2011-2013).
