Oumar Timbo is a Mauritanian politician and diplomat who has served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation since 2019. He was previously the Ambassador of Mauritania to the United States from 2014 to 2019. Timbo was born in 1978 in Mauritania. He studied at the University of Nouakchott, where he earned a degree in international relations. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in international relations from the University of Paris. Timbo began his career in the diplomatic service in 2002, when he was appointed as the Ambassador of Mauritania to the United Nations. He then served as the Ambassador of Mauritania to the United States from 2014 to 2019. In 2019, he was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. Timbo is married and has two children. He is an avid reader and enjoys playing tennis in his free time.
