Owen Goldin is an American philosopher and professor of philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is best known for his work on the philosophy of language, the philosophy of mind, and the philosophy of science. He has written several books, including The Language of Thought (1995), The Nature of Mind (1999), and The Nature of Science (2005). Goldin was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1979. He then went on to receive his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1984. Goldin has held various positions at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee since 1984, including professor of philosophy, chair of the philosophy department, and director of the Center for the Study of Language and Mind. He has also held visiting positions at the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Michigan, and the University of Chicago. Goldin's research focuses on the philosophy of language, the philosophy of mind, and the philosophy of science. He has written several books, including The Language of Thought (1995), The Nature of Mind (1999), and The Nature of Science (2005). He has also published numerous articles in journals such as Mind, Philosophical Studies, and Synthese. Goldin is married to the philosopher and author, Susan Goldin-Meadow. They have two children.
