Paul Szabo is a Romanian fencer who was born on 8 October, 1954 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He is a two-time Olympic champion, having won gold medals in the individual foil and team foil events at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. He also won a bronze medal in the individual foil event at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Szabo began fencing at the age of 12 and was soon competing in international competitions. He won his first international medal in 1973, a bronze in the individual foil event at the World Championships in Havana. He went on to win numerous medals at the World Championships and European Championships, including gold medals in the individual foil event at the 1975 and 1977 World Championships. Szabo retired from competitive fencing in 1984 and has since become a successful coach. He has coached the Romanian national team and has also coached several individual fencers to Olympic medals. He was inducted into the International Fencing Federation Hall of Fame in 2006. As of 2021, Paul Szabo's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
