Paula Blackton was an American actress, writer, and director. She was born on August 1, 1881 in Georgia, USA. She began her career in the theater, appearing in productions in New York City and on the road. She made her film debut in 1914, appearing in the silent film The Great Divide. She went on to appear in over 50 films, including The Birth of a Nation (1915), The Little American (1917), and The Sheik (1921). Blackton was also a prolific writer and director. She wrote and directed the silent film The Unwelcome Guest (1916), and wrote the screenplay for the film The Little American (1917). She also wrote and directed the short film The Little Red Schoolhouse (1917). Blackton was married to actor and director William Desmond Taylor from 1915 to 1917. She died on April 28, 1951 in Los Angeles, California.
