Penpan Sittitrai was a Thai politician and diplomat who served as the Prime Minister of Thailand from 1975 to 1976. He was born in Sakon Nakhon Province, Thailand, on 28 January 1926. He attended the University of Bangkok and graduated with a degree in law. He began his political career in the 1950s, serving as a member of the House of Representatives and later as a minister in the government of Prime Minister Sarit Thanarat. In 1975, he was appointed Prime Minister of Thailand, a position he held until 1976. During his tenure as Prime Minister, he was credited with introducing a number of economic reforms, including the establishment of the Bank of Thailand and the Thai baht as the national currency. He also oversaw the establishment of the National Economic and Social Development Board, which was responsible for the country's economic planning. Penpan Sittitrai was also a diplomat, serving as Thailand's ambassador to the United States from 1976 to 1979. He was also a member of the United Nations General Assembly from 1979 to 1981. Penpan Sittitrai passed away on 28 April 2015 at the age of 89. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
