Peter Aston is a British special effects artist and visual effects supervisor. He was born on 12 July 1936 in London, England. He is best known for his work on films such as The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Return of the Jedi (1983), and Aliens (1986). Aston began his career in the film industry in the late 1950s, working as a special effects assistant on films such as The Guns of Navarone (1961) and The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965). He then moved into the role of special effects supervisor, working on films such as The Omen (1976) and Superman (1978). In 1980, Aston was hired to work on The Empire Strikes Back, where he was responsible for the creation of the iconic AT-AT walkers. He then went on to work on Return of the Jedi, where he was responsible for the creation of the speeder bikes. In 1986, Aston was hired to work on Aliens, where he was responsible for the creation of the iconic Power Loader. He then went on to work on films such as The Abyss (1989), Jurassic Park (1993), and The Phantom Menace (1999). Aston has been nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects, for The Empire Strikes Back and Aliens. He has also won two BAFTA Awards for Best Special Effects, for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. As of 2021, Peter Aston's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.
