He is best known for his work in the field of epidemiology, particularly in the areas of infectious diseases, public health, and health promotion. Froggatt studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and graduated in 1952. He then went on to specialize in public health and epidemiology, completing a PhD in epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 1959. Froggatt has held a number of positions in the field of public health and epidemiology, including Director of the Public Health Laboratory Service in London, Director of the Institute of Public Health in Cambridge, and Director of the World Health Organization's Global Programme on AIDS. He has also served as a consultant to the World Health Organization, the United Nations, and the World Bank. Froggatt is the author of several books on public health and epidemiology, including The Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases (1985) and Health Promotion: A Practical Guide (1995).
