Peter Gzowski was a Canadian broadcaster, writer, and journalist. He was born on July 13, 1934 in Toronto, Ontario. He was best known for his long-running CBC Radio program, Morningside, which aired from 1982 to 1997. Gzowski was educated at Upper Canada College and Trinity College at the University of Toronto. He began his career in journalism in 1954, working for the Peterborough Examiner and later the Globe and Mail. He was also a columnist for Maclean's magazine from 1965 to 1975. Gzowski was the host of CBC Radio's This Country in the Morning from 1971 to 1975, and then of Morningside from 1982 to 1997. He was also the host of the CBC Television program 90 Minutes Live from 1989 to 1992. Gzowski was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Order of Canada, the Governor General's Award for Broadcasting, and the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Gold Ribbon Award. He was also the author of several books, including The Game of Our Lives: The Meaning and Making of Canadian Sport (1991). Gzowski died on January 24, 2002, at the age of 67.
