Preston Blair was an American animator, director, and producer. He is best known for his work on the classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons, as well as the Tom and Jerry series. He was born in Los Angeles County, California, and began his career in animation in the 1930s. He worked for several studios, including Warner Bros., MGM, and Hanna-Barbera. Blair was known for his skill in animating action sequences, and his work on the Tom and Jerry series earned him an Academy Award nomination in 1945. He also worked on the classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig. He also worked on the classic Popeye cartoons. Blair retired from animation in the 1970s, and died in 1995. He was posthumously inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003.
