Probal Rashid is a Bangladeshi journalist and media personality. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of the popular online news portal, Prothom Alo. He is also the founder and chairman of the media company, Prothom Alo Media Ltd. Rashid was born on 1 July 1979 in Gazipur, Bangladesh. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Dhaka in 2000. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from the same university in 2002. Rashid began his career as a journalist in 2002, working for the Daily Star newspaper. He then moved on to become the editor of the Prothom Alo newspaper in 2004. In 2008, he founded the Prothom Alo Media Ltd. and launched the Prothom Alo online news portal. Rashid has been awarded numerous awards for his work in journalism, including the Bangladesh National Press Club Award in 2008, the Bangladesh Press Institute Award in 2009, and the Bangladesh Journalists' Association Award in 2010.
