Protus Tissera was a Sri Lankan politician and diplomat who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1977 to 1978. He was born in British Ceylon and educated at St. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia. He was a member of the United National Party and served as a Member of Parliament from 1965 to 1977. Tissera was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1977 and served until 1978. He was also the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United States from 1978 to 1981. He was a member of the United Nations General Assembly from 1981 to 1982. Tissera was a recipient of the Sri Lanka Ratna, the highest civilian award in Sri Lanka. He died on 11 April, 2008 at the age of 82.
