R. Colin Stewart is a Canadian politician who served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia from 1978 to 1993. He was born on June 25, 1926 in Greenvale, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. He attended the University of New Brunswick and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1949. He then attended Dalhousie Law School and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1952. He was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in 1978 as a Progressive Conservative and was re-elected in 1981, 1984, 1988 and 1993. He served as Minister of Education from 1981 to 1984 and Minister of Health from 1984 to 1988. He retired from politics in 1993 and was appointed to the Nova Scotia Supreme Court in 1994.
