Rafael Cepeda Torres is a Colombian architect and urban planner. He was born on 28 October 1925 in Bogotá, Colombia. He studied architecture at the National University of Colombia, graduating in 1950. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in urban planning at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1954. Throughout his career, Cepeda Torres has been involved in numerous projects, including the design of the National University of Colombia's main campus, the design of the city of Bogotá's urban plan, and the design of the city of Medellín's urban plan. He has also been involved in the design of several public parks, including the Parque de los Novios in Bogotá. Cepeda Torres has received numerous awards for his work, including the National Prize for Architecture in Colombia in 1975, the Gold Medal of the Colombian Institute of Architects in 1981, and the Gold Medal of the Colombian Institute of Urbanism in 1985. He was also awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Colombia in 1988. At the age of 98, Cepeda Torres is still actively involved in the design of urban plans and public parks. He is also a professor at the National University of Colombia, where he teaches courses in urban planning and architecture.
