Rajiv Mehrishi is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1978 batch. He served as the Union Home Secretary from August 2015 to August 2017. He was the Comptroller and Auditor General of India from 2017 to 2018. He is currently the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance. Rajiv Mehrishi was born on 8 August 1955 in Rajasthan, India. He completed his schooling from St. Xavier's School, Jaipur and graduated in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Economics from Delhi School of Economics. Rajiv Mehrishi has held various important positions in the Government of India. He has served as the Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, Secretary of the Department of Expenditure, Secretary of the Department of Disinvestment, Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, and Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training. He has also served as the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan and the Home Secretary of Delhi. Rajiv Mehrishi is married to Shashi Mehrishi and the couple has two children.
