In 2004 he was nominated for another Lone Star Emmy Award for sports broadcasting, and he and his broadcasting partner Daryl Reaugh have been recipients of 4 Texas Associated Press "Best Sports Play-by-play" awards.
He was awarded a "Lone Star Emmy" for his work in Game 5 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Edmonton Oilers as best live sports production.
Additionally he has called 3 Stanley Cup Finals including the 1999 Stars Championship, 4 Western Conference Finals and over 200 National Hockey League Playoff Games. Strangis regularly shares his personal and professional experience with others, as he has taught "Sports Broadcasting" at Brookhaven Community College and at the University of North Texas in Denton. He is also an in-demand corporate speaker. His weekly radio show, "Strangis on the Stars" can be heard on the Dallas Stars flagship station WBAP Radio 820. Ralph is one of the original members of the Dallas Stars organization and has been extremely active with community and charity events.
Ralph Strangis is a 27 year veteran of the broadcasting booth, with experience in calling almost every sport imaginable. For the past 16 seasons, he has been behind the mike and in front of the camera for professional hockey, starting in Minnesota with the North Stars organization, and then on to Dallas when the North Stars franchise relocated in 1993. He is currently the play-by-play announcer for the Dallas Stars, along with Daryl "Razor" Reaugh as the color analyst. Strangis' play-by-play has been featured on such networks as ESPN, FoxSports Southwest, ABC Radio, DirecTV, Westwood One Radio and Armed Forces Radio.
