Ray Billingsley is an American cartoonist best known for his comic strip Curtis, which he has been writing and drawing since 1988. He was born on July 25, 1957 in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Billingsley attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a degree in journalism. After college, he worked as a graphic artist for the North Carolina Department of Transportation. In 1988, Billingsley created Curtis, a comic strip about a young African-American boy growing up in a single-parent home. The strip was syndicated by King Features Syndicate and has been published in newspapers around the world. Billingsley has won numerous awards for his work, including the National Cartoonists Society's Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year in 2002. He has also been inducted into the National Cartoonists Society's Hall of Fame. As of 2021, Ray Billingsley's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.
