He is also known for his appearances in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Rey Misterio Sr. began his career in the late 1970s, wrestling in Mexico and the United States. He is a former two-time Mexican National Lightweight Champion and a former two-time Mexican National Tag Team Champion. He has also held the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship and the WCW Cruiserweight Championship. Rey Misterio Sr. has appeared in several films and television shows, including the Mexican telenovela La Usurpadora and the American film Ready to Rumble. He has also appeared in several video games, including WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2006. Rey Misterio Sr. is married to his wife, Maria, and has two children, Rey Misterio Jr. and Dominik. He currently resides in Tijuana, Mexico.
