He is best known for his work on the television series Saved by the Bell, which he edited and directed from 1989 to 1993. Belding was born in Rochester, Indiana, and attended the University of Southern California, where he earned a degree in film and television production. After graduating, he began his career as an editor, working on films such as The Great Race (1965) and The Love Bug (1968). In the 1970s, Belding moved into directing, helming episodes of shows such as The Partridge Family, The Brady Bunch, and The Love Boat. He also directed the feature film The Million Dollar Duck (1971). In 1989, Belding was hired to edit and direct Saved by the Bell, a teen sitcom that ran for four seasons. He remained with the show until its end in 1993. Belding has since worked on a variety of television shows, including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and Hannah Montana.
