Richard Best was an English editor who worked in the editorial department of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). He was born on 28 June 1916 in Hull, Humberside, England, UK. He was educated at the University of Hull and began his career in the BBC in 1938. Best worked as an editor for the BBC for over 40 years, working on a variety of programmes including the popular soap opera Coronation Street. He was also responsible for editing the first episode of the long-running science fiction series Doctor Who. Best was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1975 for his services to television. He retired from the BBC in 1979 and died in London in 2002 at the age of 86. Richard Best's net worth is not known.
