Richard E. Geis was an American science fiction and fantasy author, editor, and fan. He was born on July 19, 1927 in Oregon. He was a prolific writer, having written over 200 short stories and novels. He was also an editor of the fanzine Science Fiction Review from 1965 to 1969. Geis was a member of the Science Fiction Writers of America and the Science Fiction Research Association. He was also a member of the National Fantasy Fan Federation and the National Fantasy Fan Federation Hall of Fame. Geis was married to his wife, Mary, for over 50 years. He had two children, a son and a daughter. Geis passed away on October 28, 2013 at the age of 86. He was survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Geis was a successful author and editor, and his net worth at the time of his death was estimated to be around $1 million.
