Richard Haythornthwaite is a British business executive who has held a number of senior positions in the corporate world. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the British multinational banking and financial services company Barclays. Haythornthwaite was born in 1956 and educated at the University of Manchester, where he obtained a degree in economics. He began his career in the banking industry in 1979, working for the Royal Bank of Scotland. He then moved to the Bank of England, where he held a number of senior positions, including Chief Economist and Deputy Governor. In 2003, Haythornthwaite joined Barclays as a Non-Executive Director and was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2012. He has also held a number of other senior positions in the corporate world, including Chairman of the Board of Directors of the British multinational telecommunications company Vodafone and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the British multinational oil and gas company BP. Haythornthwaite is married and has two children. He is estimated to have a net worth of around $20 million.
