Rita Zemach was married to the late Rabbi David Zemach, with whom she had two children. She was a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Rita Zemach wrote and illustrated over 30 books, including The Sabbath Lion, The King's Daughter, and The Magic Dreidels. She also wrote and illustrated several books about Jewish holidays and traditions, such as The Passover Lamb, The Hanukkah Book, and The Purim Play.
