Robert Kanigher was an American comic book writer and editor, best known for his work for DC Comics. He is credited with co-creating the characters Wonder Woman, the Flash, and the Metal Men. He wrote for the Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman titles, as well as for the war comics genre. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2003. Kanigher was born in New York City on June 18, 1915. He began his career in the comic book industry in 1941, writing for Timely Comics, the predecessor to Marvel Comics. He wrote for the Human Torch, Sub-Mariner, and Captain America titles. Kanigher moved to DC Comics in 1944, where he wrote for the Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman titles. He co-created the characters Wonder Woman, the Flash, and the Metal Men. He wrote for the war comics genre, including Our Army at War, G.I. Combat, and Star Spangled War Stories. Kanigher retired from comics in the late 1970s. He died on June 3, 2002 in Los Angeles, California. He was 86 years old.
