Robert Kelly-Schleyer

He is an actor and producer, known for Modern Dating According to Jeff (2009), American Dream (2008) and Over-Due (2007).

His first leading role (as Sam, the dying painter) in the film, 26 Mirror: Montage of Lives, premiered at Santiko's Mayan Palace Theater in San Antonio, Texas August 11, 2005...

Grad school Psychology professor at Texas Women's University, where Schleyer was registered as both graduate Psychology student and upper-level nursing student, lured him into taking a "non-parametric" statistics course by telling him, "...there is a cute, smart, tiny, female student in the class". He signed up immediately, but found the course impossibly boring! She made an "A," and went on to become a Doctor. He made a "D," and went on to become an actor. They've been happily married since 1980. And yes...he did go on and earn a Master of Arts in Psychology.

Steve McQueen was the first person to tell him he should be an actor. This was during filming of The Sand Pebbles in 1966 aboard Battleship Texas. Schleyer was featured as a Botswain's Mate in the movie - and - he was also a reporter for the Houston Post sent to interview McQueen and director Robert Wise. This was Schleyer's first movie - and - it also was his first news story as a reporter. Sadly, his scenes were cut, and his news story did not run. Interestingly, McQueen, a brother Marine, belonged to the same Marine unit aboard Camp LeJeune.

Graduated United States Marine Corp Boot Camp aboard Parris Island, SC (Platoon 242), in 1961...Qualified Expert Rifleman with the M-1. He spent one day in the Parris Island Brig after punching out another recruit, whom he says, "was asking for it." He later received a rare inter-service transfer from the USMC to a U.S. Army Officer Candidate Program and subsequently into the Georgia National Guard where he served as a Military Police Officer.
