Robert Saleh is an American football coach who currently serves as the head coach of the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He was born on January 31, 1979 in Dearborn, Michigan. Saleh attended Fordson High School in Dearborn, Michigan, where he was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track. He then attended Northern Michigan University, where he played college football as a linebacker. Saleh began his coaching career in 2002 as a defensive quality control coach at Central Michigan University. He then moved on to Michigan State University, where he served as a defensive graduate assistant from 2003 to 2004. In 2005, Saleh joined the Houston Texans as a defensive quality control coach. He then moved on to the Seattle Seahawks in 2011, where he served as the defensive quality control coach and then the linebackers coach. In 2017, Saleh was hired as the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers. In 2021, Saleh was hired as the head coach of the New York Jets. In February 2011, Saleh was hired as the defensive quality control coach for the Seattle Seahawks under Pete Carroll. He spent three seasons with the Seahawks, including their 2013 championship season when they defeated the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.
