Rod Tam is a former politician and businessman from Hawaii. He served as a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1982 to 1994. He was also the chairman of the Honolulu City Council from 1994 to 2002. Tam was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1975 with a degree in political science. He then attended the University of Hawaii's William S. Richardson School of Law, graduating in 1978. Tam began his political career in 1982 when he was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives. He served in the House until 1994, when he was elected to the Honolulu City Council. He served as chairman of the Council from 1994 to 2002. Tam is currently the president and CEO of the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association. He is also a member of the Hawaii Tourism Authority, the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, and the Hawaii Tourism Authority Board of Directors. Tam is married to his wife, Janice, and they have two children. He is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his family.
