Rodrigo Arango Velásquez was a Colombian lawyer, politician, and diplomat. He was born in Medellín, Colombia, on 4 March 1925. He studied law at the University of Antioquia and graduated in 1950. He was a member of the Liberal Party and served as a congressman from 1962 to 1966. He was also a member of the Colombian delegation to the United Nations from 1966 to 1969. In 1969, he was appointed as the Colombian Ambassador to the United States, a post he held until 1973. He was also the Colombian Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1973 to 1975. In 1975, he was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, a post he held until 1977. He was also the Minister of Education from 1977 to 1978. In 1978, he was appointed as the President of the Central Bank of Colombia, a post he held until 1982. He was also the President of the National Planning Department from 1982 to 1984. Rodrigo Arango Velásquez died on 28 April, 2008 at the age of 83.
