Ross Shafer is an American comedian, actor, author, and television host. He was born on December 10, 1954 in Portland, Oregon. He is best known for his work on the television series The Late Show with Ross Shafer, which aired from 1988 to 1992. Shafer began his career as a stand-up comedian in the late 1970s, performing in clubs and on television. He was a regular on the television series Fridays, and appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. He also hosted the game show Make Me Laugh. In 1988, Shafer was chosen to host The Late Show with Ross Shafer, a late-night talk show on the Fox network. The show was cancelled after four seasons, but Shafer continued to appear on television, hosting the game show Win Ben Stein's Money and appearing as a guest on various talk shows. Shafer has also written several books, including the best-selling autobiography, I'm Not the Person I Used to Be. He has also written several books on comedy, including The Comedy Bible and The Comedy Bible for Kids. Shafer is currently the host of the podcast, The Ross Shafer Show. He lives in Los Angeles, California.
